Does it taste like real sourdough? I was so excited to find some at Betty's Tea Rooms in York and it was very nice bread, but tasted nothing like the sourdough I know. Weak. If it is nice I will have to get some at Sainsbury's and try it.
It actually doesn't really taste like real sourdough, lol. I'm kind of disappointed, but it's better than nothing. It smells more like sourdough than it actually tastes like it. :( Oh well.
I was planning on making a grilled cheese sandwich on it for lunch, but I made some toast this morning and it totally cracked my temporary filling I had on one of my teeth. Nice huh? Looks like I'll be laying off the bread and heading to the dentist this week. *cries*
I think Marks and Spencer do a sour dough which maybe more to your taste - the other option would be to go to one of the good markets - Spittalfields for instance.
OMG that sucks!! I think you should take the route I did, when one of my temp crowns fell off. The detail repair paste (sold at the drugstore - in case you need some) said "do not eat for xx hrs". Since I was on my way to brunch, I took that to mean, "don't eat a thing but DO consume as much champagne as humanly possible. 3 bottles sounds about right." I was F-ed UP!!
Maybe save up and try Wholefoods at High Street Kensington for sourdough. I haven't been able to eat any bread at all on this diet I'm on, so usually sprint through the bakery department at high speed so as to minimise the distress, but they have quite a lot of different types there. I'd be quite amazed if they didn't have a good sourdough. And probably made by genuine artisans rather than just inspired by them :-D
I'm in the process of trying to lose weight before I go back home in September...and the thought of no bread....holy god.
I wish wish wish the Wholefoods was closer to me. Going all the way up to Kensington is a pain, but, I just may have to do it! Especially if it's not just made by "inspired artisans"...Thanks for the advice!
