There's been quite a spate of that happening in Ipswich at the moment. I don't suppose you fueled up at a recently rebranded Morrisons did you? There are a lot of people blaming the fact that they've gone all black on their pumps on misfueling.
Personally, I always triple check before I start filling - I am so clumsy and forgetful that I've gotten it into my head that one day I am going to mess up like that and I certainly can't afford to.
The car I had before they gave me my current one had a small yellow sticker to remind you that it needed diesel. A bit silly though, but it does save you from making expensive mistakes.
jesus. the other week, i put in unleaded in a diesel tank. in a loaner car. then had to shell out £550 to get the tank removed, drained and re-installed back in the gigantor loaner land rover. apparently, simply draining the tank wasn't an option. talk about getting raped. and it wasn't even my car.
Yeah the breakdown people left and called out some Fuel Specialists. The fuel guy said its a good job we didn't go to the dealer, they would have wanted to replace the engine and basically anything that had touched the wrong fuel
