My new guilty pleasure...

I like Hilary. I save my love for Barack. She unnerves me sometimes and I'm still pissed from her early attempts to sling mud at someone with the rare skeletons in his closet. *cough* Obama for President *cough*

Ironically, Bill? The potential First Lady? I've loved him forever. I grew up very Democratic...though anymore, I just want someone in office who's just not a blithering, greedy, unscrupulous dickhead.

I did enjoy Living History very much. Also, Gail Sheehy wrote
Hillary's Choice; and if you wanted a more objective eye, there is
a bio out by Carl Bernstein (of Watergate fame). She is a lot smarter
than she often appears when campaigning. Sven and I somehow
were invited to conference calls with her, first on foreign policy
(with Madeleine Albright) and tomorrow on higher education.
She is so unbelievably sophisticated-- compared to what her every-
day campaign sound-byte persona would have you believe; and so
much mroe interesting. A really hard worker. I love Barack, too.
But I would like to see him have a bit more experience. When JFK,
another charismatic politician, ran for Prez, he had been in Senate a
lot longer.
And will she be the next US president ?
Do you still get to vote even though you've abandoned your country?! I'm just kidding, of course. The woman creeps me out, to be honest, but if she wins the primary, I'll vote for her.
I really loved this book. It made me like her too :) And I was also raised in a very anti-Clinton (and especially anti-Hillary) household. Good thing I can have my own ideas, right?
I would vote for her if I was allowed. Welcome to the light. (Obama is pretty good too.) Just please make it anyone but GW!
If you are in the UK I fear it nay be unlawful for you to contribute to her election campaign.

I'm a US Citizen. How is it unlawful?
Perhaps it's only foreign nationals. I wanted to give Al Franken some cash and his website insisted that I confirm that I was domiciled in the US or in the US forces posted overseas.
Ah! Gotcha. That's bullshit! Money is money. Grrrrr....
I don't want to dislike the Clintons but I just have this uneasy feeling that they are slicksters or snake oil salespeople. Their politics is certainly moderate and pragmatic - which is a good thing IMHO.

I was raised in an anti-politics family. The Union was the only thing that mattered.
Politics aside, you have one-upped, probably even two-upped, me by blogging from the bath. Complete with pic of oh-so-clean toes.

You win, dear Cate. You win.
Wow - I didn't even notice that the bath tub part.

:)

And if I look close enough I can see you reflection in the tub faucet. I have a pink scrunchy too.
it is worth a read, then? i'm feeling a bit OD with the fiction and this sounds interesting.

Thanks a lot, Joey. I just spent the last hour blowing up the photo and scrutinizing the reflection in the faucet, and still couldn't see anything. My eyes hurt. I think I need a nap.

Nice toes, though.

Joey and Pax:

You two scare me, lol.

Bushra:

Yes it is definitely worth a read! I'm just shy of half way through, and it's pretty fascinating. It's not exactly an *easy* read as it really goes into detail about stuff, but I feel like I'm learning a lot. It's also nice because the language she uses isn't overwhelming, so it's easy to understand. I vote you read it!

Benjamin-

I certainly hope so!!!

You two scare me, lol.

It's what I'm here for.

Hitlery is a pinko, socialist, commy that believes a nanny-state government is what all us helpless peons need because SHE knows better than us how WE should live our lives. Don't be fooled by a book, look at her voting record and listen to her talk. LIVE FREE OR DIE!...sorry Cate..couldn't help myself.
I'll still luv'ya even if you support her but I may have to throw up once or twice.
LOL

Oh you!

...PLEASE DON'T TELL MY MOM!!!!!!! I'll be shot on sight!!!!!
I would never nark on you! Hope all is well.

i'm glad you recommended this. i was at a bookstore tonight with money to treat myself to a book, and i couldn't decide what to get until i stumbled across this book and remembered this post. honestly, i'm not entirely sure how i feel about hill. right now i kind of favor obama, but if she wins the primary she's definitely got my vote. i, too, don't want to vote for her just because she's a woman (tempting as that is), so i'm really interesting in reading what she has to say about herself.
The comments about how you felt before you picked up the book are interesting. My father hates hates hates Hillary but when I ask him why he can't really answer me. He can't point to anything specific in her politics. He doesn't even say anything about her husband or even things that could be somewhat suspect like Whitewater. He just plain hates her and I really think it's because she is a woman.

I thought the book was good--it changed a lot of my thoughts about her, even though I always admired her before.
