First The Daily Show, (although you can still watch single videos, just not a whole episode), then The Colbert Report (they won't even let you watch ONE video now) and now fucking NBC. It's THE INTERNET, people. JEBUS.
Old media are too scared of the internet and are putting their dollars first. What they do not realize is that this will force more people on to the Torrent sites.
In this case, it's because their advertisers don't want to pay for international transmission. If the network can't find (an easy) way to advertise overseas, they don't do it.
Podcasts are having the same problem. Although a podcast may claim 20,000 listeners, the US-based advertisers only care about the numbers of US-centric listeners. When they find out only 40% of the listeners are in the US, they tend to be more stingy with their money and either choose not to advertise with the podcast, or drop their rates WAAAY down.
Yep, I suffer with you here in Canada. My only usual hope is to find stuff on YouTube. NBC surprised me, too, the other week when I suddenly couldn't see anything anymore. Apparently it's due to rights in different countries, etc, which is why Hulu still won't work in Canada.
Well crap! What you need then is a person back in the states that will set up a Sling Box for you. It will record the shows and you can control the box from wherever you are in the world.
you have to love it! I think their afraid someone might steal their ideas for TV programs! So bit torrent is the only way I know! Even proxy servers do not work
